Partners
Utility services throughout Nassau County are provided through public and private utility partnerships and county departments. These partners share the passion to provide outstanding services.

JEA - Water Services
JEA provides water, wastewater and reuse services in the central portion of the County including east of I-95 to the intracoastal waterway and along SR 200 west of I-95. JEA is contracted by the County to provide these services through an interlocal agreement. JEA is a non-profit independent special district created by the City of Jacksonville to provide utility services within Duval County and surrounding areas by contract.

FGUA - Water Services
FGUA provides water and wastewater services to Amelia Island. FGUA is contracted to provide those services through an interlocal agreement and the County appoints a board member to sit on the FGUA Board of Directors. FGUA is a non-profit independent special district created to provide utility services at the request of host governments.

FPL - ELECTRIC SERVICE
Florida Power & Light is a for-profit organization delivering electric services within its Public Service Commission approved service boundaries. FPL provides services to the central and southwest portions of the county. FPL utilizes public rights-of-way within the county to provide electric service through a franchise agreement.

FPU - ELECTRIC SERVICE
Florida Public Utilities is a for-profit organization delivering electric services within its Public Service Commission approved service boundaries. FPU provides services to Amelia Island and the City of Fernandina Beach. FPU utilizes public rights-of-way within the county to provide electric service through a franchise agreement.

OREMC - ELECTRIC SERVICE
Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation (OREMC) is a non-profit electric cooperative serving areas within North Florida and South Georgia. OREMC provides service to the northwest portion of the county including parts of the Town of Hilliard. OREMC utilizes public rights-of-way within the county to provide electric service through a franchise agreement.

STORMWATER SERVICES
Nassau County’s Stormwater and Drainage Management Department is responsible for coordinating stormwater system maintenance within the Public Works Department to ensure water quality and quantity standards are maintained. The County is required to maintain stormwater systems under the federally mandated National Pollution Discharge Elimination System rules and regulations.

SOLID WASTE SERVICES
The Nassau County Solid Waste Management Department’s efforts are focused on quality customer service and on the continuous improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided. Collection services are provided through solid waste haulers that collect residential and commercial waste throughout Nassau County under a non-exclusive solid waste residential or commercial hauler permit.

FPU - NATURAL GAS
FPU provides natural gas services to Fernandina Beach and limited areas outside the municipal boundary with Public Service Commission oversight. Other natural gas providers can provide service to unincorporated areas through a request for a franchise agreement.
